About SYRACUSE 20/20

SYRACUSE 20/20 Inc., a non-partisan, not-for-profit coalition of Central New York business and community leaders, was established in 2000. SYRACUSE 20/20 was formed in order to improve the quality of life and government in Syracuse. The group explores and addresses critical issues and challenges facing the City.

The Purpose of SYRACUSE 20/20

  • Engage in nonpartisan analysis, study and research to determine the priority issues and challenges confronting the City of Syracuse in the areas of education, housing, economic development, and government modernization.
  • Develop innovative, community-based solutions to the City's issues and challenges.
  • Provide information about these issues, challenges and solutions to the general public in order to promote public understanding, interest and support.
  • Improve communication among its members and between leaders of the public and private sectors, and facilitate the implementation of new programs and strategies through the combined efforts of public and private leaders.
  • Monitor and assess the success of these efforts on an ongoing basis.
  • Board Members participate on one of three committees:
    Education, Revitalization or Government Modernization.

Board members and supporting organizations fund SYRACUSE 20/20 annually through contributions. SYRACUSE 20/20 does not accept public funds for its core operating needs in order for it to remain in a position where it can have a meaningful impact on government and related public policy issues.

As you will see throughout this website, SYRACUSE 20/20 is focused on best positioning Syracuse and the surrounding region to be competitive through innovative reform and targeted investment.  SYRACUSE 20/20 believes that Central New York is at a critical cross road – we can stay with the path we are on, leading to more of the same – or we can start a new path that builds upon our assets and transforms our collective ability to be competitive with other communities around the country and the world.
